So, FedCon is over. I'm going to post some short impressions here now, and plan to go in depth later.
> William Shatner: It's difficult to describe. It's hard to believe he's 81. Generally, he liked to talk about his projects, and ramble philosophically, but while he didn't seem very personable - he came directly off his flight to a photo session. When the day ticket holders were only getting to see him on the screen in the smaller room, because so many people came to see him, he came on stage in the smaller room beforehand, "to prove he was actually there, and not in LA somewhere". On the stage he sometimes misunderstood questions, or answered them in wide, rambling, philosophical ways. But he was polite and dealt with the questions nicely. Even when he misunderstood someone, and thought they were asking after his moments of greatest loss. And frankly, as unsurprised as he seemed by the question, I can only assume he was asked such things before. Some people have strange ideas about what's appropriate to ask. The actual question was whether he ever regretted playing Kirk, but he didn't answer that, since he misunderstood. Oh, and slashy comment: How many relationships he had with aliens, his first answer was "One, and it was continuous." ;)
> Richard Dean Anderson: Much more relaxed than last year, was again really nice. He now knows about slash. The first mention he was "What is that?" to which the women with the question answered "gay relatinships" and he said "now that I understnad". Then he said that he and Michael (Shanks) sometimes talked about how some of the scenes could be interpreted that way, (especially during rehearsals) and it was "no problem because Michael's not homophobic, and I'm free as a bird anyway, so I definitely understand that take on it."
> Jonathan Frakes: Holy Fuck, what was he smoking? And where can I get some of that? He was funny and crazy to insane. But funny. And he's very comfortable to lean against, which I discovered during the photo shoot.
> Walter Koenig: Nice, thoughtful, in a dry way fun. When asked about his relationship to his former castmates, he told a story illustrating that most had trouble with William Shatner, and that he wasn't close to Leonard Nimoy, while respecting him a great deal. But he also referred to an interview with William Shatner in which they seemed to have cleared the air a bit. Also, it's nice to see he's enjoying coming here so much, he actually asked for an invitation. And he was afraid the applause he got was because people think he's going to die soon. Garrett Wang told him that he's going to live forever - or ordered him to, it was a bit hard to tell. ;)
> Garrett Wang: He's a great MC. Manages he fine line between being serious, and being funny, and manages to put the actors who are nervous at ease. He has strong opinions on his character in Voyager, while still loving Star Trek. Of course, it says a lot about the depth of his character, that while he played him for seven years, he thought (based on his name Harry Kim) that he was Korean, only to discover afterwards that the writers considered him Chinese. He said when they told him that, he remembered the "ancient Chinese words of wisdom" he got to tell sometimes - and he had always thought that Harry Kim had just taken Chinese history as a subject at Starfleet Academy.
> Nessi: The long-time co-host of FedCon posted after last year's FedCon that he would stop (explaining the reason for that later), and then posted (as the explanation later) that she would continue. It was great te see her so comfortable on stage, and also that there was no fuss made by anyone.
> Joe Flanigan was also there, and very pretty. ;) Yes, I can be shallow. Oh, and he was on stage with Kavan Smith (Evan Lorne) fr one panel, and Kavan told him (and the audience of course) that one of the first things Joe said to him was "Wow, you're really short!", and his first, immedaite response was "Wow, you really are an asshole", which he didn't say, because he wanted the job. They seemed alright with each other however.
> Felicia Day: Didn't know her before, only saw one panel, but I think I'm going to look up her stuff, she seems pretty funny, and cool.
